Viking Funeral Pyre Burn

By Dennis | December 21, 2009

This is the springtime of my loving – the second season I am to know
You are the sunlight in my growing – so little warmth I’ve felt before.
It isn’t hard to feel me glowing – I watched the fire that grew so low.

It is the summer of my smiles – flee from me Keepers of the Gloom.
Speak to me only with your eyes. It is to you I give this tune.
Ain’t so hard to recognize – These things are clear to all from
Time to time.

Talk Talk – I’ve felt the coldness of my winter
I never thought it would ever go. I cursed the gloom that set upon us…
But I know that I love you so

These are the seasons of emotion and like the winds they rise and fall
This is the wonder of devotion – I see the torch we all must hold.
This is the mystery of the quotient – Upon us all a little rain must fall

Things to Do and Bring

By Helen | December 8, 2009

A Token for the Pyre

First and foremost the Dragon Ship won’t be complete until you have added a little bit of yourself. Bring something that reminds you of Hans, something you would want him to have in the next world. Sharpie’s will be provided to add your thoughts and prayers. The hull of the ship will be covered in images, and glue will be provided for you to add anything you like.

A Story

We’ve all got one, and now’s the time to share it. The mic will be open all night.

Food

We’ll be having a pot-luck feast. Please bring whatever you like to share best, with special emphasis on Hans’ favorite foods. Ice & mixers are always good. Grills will be running all evening for those who would like to BBQ. We’ll be cooking some unspecified quantity of bacon and anyone who wants to lend a hand is welcome.

Drink

Bring an awesome bottle! Something that reminds you of “that one time Hans and I…” You know the one.

Lend a Hand

Anyone who wants to lend a hand setting up the boat and paste the naked ladies on her hull is welcome to show up starting at 2pm. There will be lots of things to lug, wire, wrangle, etc. Greeters will be needed from 4pm to just before the burn.

Following the event any clean-up you can do would be mightily appreciated, and if your vehicle will accommodate a bag of trash or recycling, we would so appreciate help packing it out! The truly perseverant would be more than welcome to join the clean-up team on Sunday at noon.

Just FYI

Headless is an awesome warehouse space, but can run toward the chilly side. Dress in layers for the cold. Hats, gloves, and scarves are in order. The road to the beach is also steep and rocky so wear rugged flat soled footwear you won’t mind getting dirty. And just in case, rain gear might be in order.

What happened?

By Oznog | November 28, 2009

On Friday, November 20th, Hans was picked up from work by his girlfriend Janet.  They were on their way to the 21st Amendment for dinner when Hans began to feel dizzy.  It seemed at first that it may have been a diabetic episode, and the paramedics where called. Unfortunately, the situation was much more serious, and Hans passed, suddenly and quietly.  The clinical cause is a pulmonary embolism, possibly related to his knee surgery two months prior.

Hans was cremated, and small, formal service were held on November 27th.

Hans touched hundred, if not thousands, of people in his 35 years. We invite all of them to the Viking Funeral Celebration on December 12th.

Welcome

By Oznog | November 23, 2009

“There he goes. One of God’s own prototypes. Some kind of high powered mutant never even considered for mass production. Too weird to live, and too rare to die.”
- Hunter S. Thompson

Welcome to the collective memorial for our dear friend, Hans Anderson. We hope this site provides you with a place to find information about what happened, share thoughts and memories, and participate in the process of not only saying goodbye, but, more importantly, celebrating the life of our fierce and beloved Viking Warrior.

Please check back often as this site will be updated regularly.
